Laser engraving itself produces a permanent mark but not true color. On most materials, the design appears lighter or darker depending on the surface. Crystal, glass and acrylic etch frosted. Some materials, like Leatherette, are specially designed to reveal a contrasting color when engraved — for example, black Leatherette engraves to gold or silver.

For metals, we use Cerakote ceramic marking to create a durable, high-contrast color mark. In certain cases, color fill or multi-step processes can also be applied to add color to engraved designs.

Yes. Our CO₂ lasers deep engrave on materials such as wood, acrylic, and certain plastics by running multiple passes to create a carved effect.

For crystal and glass, we do not cut deeply into the material. Instead, the laser produces a frosted etching on the surface. This creates a sharp, elegant contrast, but it is always shallow rather than deep to protect the integrity of the glass.

On metals, we typically use marking (such as Cerakote ceramic marking) rather than deep engraving, since CO₂ lasers do not remove bare metal. For true deep engraving in solid metals, a fiber laser or rotary engraving is required — though we can often achieve a bold, high-contrast effect through specialized surface treatments.

Metal engraving creates a permanent cut producing depth and texture in the design.

Metal marking, by contrast, does not remove material. Instead, a chemical or ceramic coating (such as Cerakote) bonds to the surface when activated by the laser. This creates a high-contrast, smooth, durable mark on metals like stainless steel without cutting into the material.

We can cut acrylic and wood up to 1/4 inch thick cleanly. Thicker materials can be layered or be possible depending on type and density.
