Pricing Guide for Custom Engraving Services

Welcome to LightForce Laser Engraving—your go-to destination for custom laser engraving, cutting, etching, and marking services in Cincinnati. We work with a wide variety of raw materials and products. When you purchase in-stock items from our store, such as awards or personalized gifts, standard engraving is included. If you’d like us to work on raw materials such as wood, glass, acrylic, metal, or leather, canvas, etc. please review our Pricing Guide for more details. Your quote is based on quantity, size, material, art design and complexity of set-up.

Set-Up Fee (One-Time): $25 – $120. This fee covers the customization of your design for the engraving process. It includes the creation of jigs, templates, precise measurements, and required automation. The price varies based on the complexity of your project and the number of components. Once we’ve set up your design, subsequent orders using the same setup incur no additional set-up fee.

For future re-orders of the same design, a flat rate per item will be negotiated that includes set-up, art design, materials, and engraving time.

Art/Logo/Photo Design Fee (One-Time): $10 – $60 per design. This fee applies to vectorizing existing files or creating original designs, logos, photos, and graphic elements. The cost depends on the complexity of the artwork and the quality of the source file. Clean SVG files often reduce this fee.

Materials Cost: Varies. This covers the price of the raw material (e.g., wood, acrylic, glass, etc.) used in your project. Whenever possible, we source materials locally. Materials cost varies by type and availability. If you’d like to supply your own materials, please contact us first to confirm they are laser compatible.

Machine Engraving Fee: $2.00 per minute. This charge covers the laser’s active operation time, including electricity and any required cleaners or pre-engraving sprays.

Example 1: Creating a 5" x 7" Custom Wooden Sign with a Simple Word Art Design

Set-Up Fee: $25. (Covers alignment, measurements, and laser parameter settings; no specialized jig or multiple-size layout needed.)
Art/Logo Fee: $10. (Basic vector conversion of word art or a simple logo; no extensive file cleanup or art design required.)
Materials Cost: $4.50*. (*For a 5" x 7" birch wood piece; actual cost may vary based on material selection and availability.)
Custom Engraving Fee: $2/min x 5 min = $10. (Based on an average processing time for size and simple design.)

Example 2: 500 Carbide Tools with Laser Marking Serialization

Set-Up Fee: $60. (2 different size tools; requires specialized jigs or multiple-size layout.)
Art/Logo Fee: $10. (Basic vector conversion of serial numbers)
Materials Cost: $0.00 - tools provided by customer.
Custom Engraving Fee: $2/min x 250 min = $500. (Typical five-minute laser engraving/cutting process for this size and design.)
